TransferCase Questions
Ok I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.2 with the NV3500 5spd. Under the hood it says for a transfercase it has a NP231DHD, but when I crawled under the pickup the tag says NP241DLD.
Anyway Im needed to replace my Tcase because when I shift it wont lock into any gear. So i was just getting a new one, then I can rebuild or what ever I need to and sell the old one.
Does anyone know if I can put a NP231D in and not have any issues? or What transfercase I can bolt up in there? Or if I need a NP241DLD what can I pull it out of, a 2500(Does Gas or Diesel matter?)
Thank you guys in advance for any advice

Well I stuck a Posi Lok on it because the Vac lines got melted.
Whats happening is when you shift the Transfercase into any gear you cant feel the bump like it grabbed that gear.
It still drives fine but its like it wont shift out of the gear its in, The front axle engages, locks the right side in.

OK I jacked it up, and the driveshafts turned. But it still didnt go into 4H, N, or 4L, It drives fine, just in 2wd. Nothing changes with the driveshafts when I pull the lever back or push it forward.
I grabbed the shifter on the side of the case, and it moved with no resistance. Could it just not be adjusted right?
