spark plug shields
#3
Clean out the hole it sits in, blow it out with air, or whatever you got. Make sure all the dirt is out of there. (heat shields are pretty good about collecting it...) Hit it with some PB Blaster, or some other GOOD penetrating oil. (NOT WD-40.) Put a socket on it, and try working it back and forth to get it to break loose. If it starts binding while removing it, run it back in, hit it with more chems, and try again. You do NOT want to break the plug off in the hole. No fun at all.

When I did my tune up a week ago I pulled the heat shields off (with a pair of pliers/ vice grips) before I even tried to remove the plugs and I took a small screw driver and scraped around each plug to get all the crap that collects around the plug. I pulled all the plugs and unhooked to the power wire to the coil and cranked the engine for a few seconds to blow out any crap that may have fell in the cylinders.
