I've searched the forum and found so many different answers on how to do this? What's the best way, 2000 Dodge RAM, thank you.

 

1. Disconnect neg terminal on battery
2. Turn key to start hold for 30 seconds
3. Reconnect neg terminal on battery

 

I have had luck with removing neg battery cable and turning on the headlights and replacing the neg battery cable. I didn't know about turning the key to the on position, I guess it all has to do with draining the reserve power that keeps the RAM powered (read access memory) that is why the trip odometer resets to zero when you unhook the battery and the odometer has a ROM chip (read only memory) it basically rewrites the info every 1/10 mile you go to keep track of the mileage for the life of the truck.

 

I have heard of both ways being done just that the key is proven to drain the power whereas I don't think the headlight method has ever been proven but its assumed. But yeah, either way works. With the key, the proper way to do it is hold it on the start position for 20-30 seconds not just the on position.

 

That worked lol, but forgot about it resetting your trip odometer and overhead unit haha >.< just gotta remember to change oil at 2200 miles now lol.

Unfortunately it didn't work on my truck but it might be some help to you, also how do you guys get the codes for ABS problems ?

 

Need a code reader that will do ABS codes. Most parts stores won't. Need to have a scanner that will actually read them.

 

I have a bad 02 sensor thats throwing CEL, I'm going outside right now to see if it throws that code at me. (since I already know the code and the issue). Thats a cool trick.
