Default oil consumption

Changed my oil today and I was down three quarts, I had the hughes plenum kit installed while I was in school this past year by a "car guy" so I checked that out an there was maybe a tee spoon of oil on the pan but it was still very shinny. my cat is clogged due to my plenum being blown apart (ordering a new one now) but if I'm going to be blowing through oil I don't want to install it. so any thoughts on the problem possibly a pcv valve? valve seals? There is no white smoke so I don't know. I really would like to install a mild cam and rr's. but I don't know where all my oil is oil! thanks for the help.

It's usually best to replace the PCV valve when the plenum job is done, however, a normally functioning PCV system will leave some oil in the intake...

Monday I think I will go to the dealership and grab one if they have one. But to consume three quarts of oil when I wasnt towing or in the mud is a problem.

Yea, 3 quarts is a lot. How long was the oil change before last?

Could be leaking the oil - check your oil sending unit at the very back of the motor to ensure it isn't leaking and check other common leak points, too (oil filter, drain plug gasket, rear main seal, front cover seal, etc.). Also, how many miles do you have on this motor?

about 2500 miles ago and I just hit 111,000, where I park I never see spots or anything like that and I will check the sending unit and I had the rear main seal replaced about 2 years ago.

No knocking or noises? Dang, 3 quarts is way more than half what it takes. Check the plugs too. Wow. Don't get a parts store PCV but the genuine Mopar one at dealer.

I just put the new pcv valve in, hope it helps im going to check the sending unit and all around the engine when I clean the bay up tomorrow. I hope its not the rear main seal since it was just fixed two years ago but another question is how to match push rod length and springs for a cam shaft im looking at this http://www.compperformancegroupstore...Code=LACAMHFDE
anyone else use or have a good/bad experience with comp cams?

That cam is flat tappet, and 2000-6000 RPM. That translates to very little low-end, good midrange, and better top end. Unfortunately, the the stock intake manifold will kill any top end gains. Not a good choice for a cam for a truck motor.
