Tuning question

I wouldn't mess with the bottom end if you're just gonna change it all again later.

I was gonna do an intake swap and cam this summer to my truck but... Another project came up

Might want do get a double roller timing set, water pump, timing tensioner, and thermostat, since you're in there. Oh, and spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

Well yeah kinda, it will need re ringed at the least. It's got 245k on it and it's gettin tired. So I figured I'd throw a set of pistons in it and a scat cast crank if needed. I'm not real sure on how durable these stock cranks are.

I planned on getting new timing set, t stat, plugs, wires etc. I just put a new water pump on it.

Is there any aftermarket distributor/coil wise for the fuel injection?

This is the reason that going ahead with stroking the motor now instead of later will get you closer to your engine output goal without having to re-do items later. The Scat rotating assembly includes the cast stroker crank, Hypertec pistons, rods, rings and bearings. The 408 should provide you all of the output you'll need and is a stout, well-documented combination.

If you don't want to stroke it at the moment, the stock bottom end is pretty stout. Just check bearing clearances, and call it a day. (re-ring isn't a bad idea.)

But my point with not stroking it now is that I'm not going to buy the stroker rotating assembly and spend the extra money now and then do it all again when I get the 426 assembly later on.
