Default Shifting Issues

So yesterday night, a real bad storm rolled through Chicago that flooded most of the streets in my neighborhood. Having driven through a few flooded intersections, i notice that my truck is shifting kinda funny (from second to first at a stop. Otherwise it shifts fine), has real low idle when stopped at a light, and has bogged down (thats only happened twice).
So my question to you all would be what could have happened? At first I thought that maybe a connector somewhere got wet. But it has been 90 all day today and the truck is bone dry. Then I thought that maybe water got into the trans vent. But I checked the fluid and there's no water. Finally, I thought of the plenum gasket, but I just replaced that last fall.
So if any of you have any suggestions on what to look at, please help.

Did that to me many times...

Disconnect the negative on the battery. Disconnect the VSS connector (speed sensor on the driver side of the tranny) and spray some water dispersment agent in there. Did you notice if your speedometer was acting kinda funny or out of whack??

Looking for the VSS? On yours, it's on the tailshaft housing on the t-case. Don't recall which side.

Newer transmissions have the output speed sensor on the drivers side of the trans. But, those are electronically controlled. On yours, first three gears are purely mechanically controlled. Computer has nothing to do with it.

Ok, so i did find what Im assumin is the connector on the end of the t-case and it does seem to be a little wet in the male end of the plug. Would wd40 be ok to use to get the water out of it?

Yep. That's what WD-40 is all about. The "WD" stands for "water displacing".
