Default Oil pressure questions

Lately I've been watching my oil pressure and to me it doesn't seem right. Under throttle it'll go up to normal pressure. When driving at 60-65 mph it'll stay around 50-60 (judging the gauge) and other times it'll go down and stay at 40. If I deaccelerate it won't go down and will stay around 40-60 (Whatever pressure I was at at highway speeds). I'm kinda worried I have a bearing failure or something with the oil pump. Anybody help out? I can explain more if neeeded

Lots of things influence oil pressure. Engine RPM being right there at the top of the list. But, even simple things such as the age of the oil will have an affect.

Basically, if you have better than 10PSI at idle, and then about 10 PSI more per 1000 RPM, up to about 60 PSI max, everything is hunky dory.

You think thats odd, mine stays at around 40-42 at all speeds no matter if I'm idling or how hard I accelerate!

Since we have HeyYou involved already, might as well ask.. What if the truck seems to be always running high? I have never really paid that much attention to the oil pressure, but it does always seem to be up at 60 or above.. (depending on how you read these gauges..) But never dropping below 40

Alright sounds good I just didn't want to keep worrying with my new motor. Thanks for the reassurance HeyYou!

That isn't a problem. You have good oil pressure. If you don't trust the gauge, you can stick a mechanical on there for a bit, to see what is REALLY happening...... but, oil pressure that good generally implies that the bearings and such are still in great shape.

Mine basically acts like yours which from my understanding was normal. Sits around 30-40 at stop or idle and around 50-60 during regular driving.
