Default Fan removal process

Bought some E-fans off Ebay, going to do E-fan conversion and shroud removal.

What is the process for removing the fan/clutch, and are any special tools needed, anything to be wary / careful of?

Thank you for the help.

I left the serpentine belt on, but a wrench on the big nut, and smacked the wrench with a hammer to break it loose. Then is just thread right off. Careful, it isn't light, don't wanna marf up the radiator when it comes off. May have to pull the shroud as well to get it out.

Also isn't the threads reversed for the fan nut? You can buy a wrench made for that nut or if you have one large enough already. If you don't have a wrench I had also used a long punch and hit the nut right at the edge to break it loose.

Was standard threads on mine. No clue if that changed over the years.

Indeed you have to remove the shroud to remove the fan, I've tried before, it simply won't work....

Look up Lisle 44180 Fan Clutch Wrench it's a spanner type tool that will hold the water pump in place while u use a 36 mm open end wrench to loosen the clutch-it has standard rotation threads So turn counter clockwise to remove it--

Save your shroud and fan/clutch in case you aren't happy and decide to reinstall-

On top of this I'd keep it in the truck I switched to a single fan a couple years back on my old truck and I was glad I had it with me. It was a 100 plus degree day I was 500 miles from home and the fan took a dump on me just food for thought.
