Default 1997 Dodge ram 1500 5.9 360

Before everyone goes off telling me about all the threads regarding this question. I understand they have them out there But cconsidering my lack of free time to search I'd make a new one. So here goes. I need to know if it's normal. When I drive my truck as it reaches operating temperature it first goes slightly past the middle to about 210-220 or also known as a hair past the middle of the Guage but after a few seconds shoots back day to 190-195 or a hair below the middle of the gauge and stays there. The question is it that normal to go that high than back down?

Yep. Normal. If it REALLY bothers you, you could change the thermostat, but, no promises that it will actually change its behavior.

Mine doesn't do that.

Sometimes it does that right after cutting it off. But that's normal too.

Nothing really to worry about. Just keep an eye on it.

I wouldn't worry too much as long as it is still the stock 195* thermostat. I ended up getting a "cooler" thermostat since I live in the desert and almost red lined in traffic.

If you're so short free on time how did you have time to write this post? In the time it took you to write it you could have searched and found your answer.

Welcome to DF.
