You don't seem to understand what I'm saying it is not in the front differential I can manually with my had switch the black and red vacuum lines and the 4x4 works. inside the transfer case where the vacuum switch goes doesn't do anything when switched into 4x4 causing the vacuum to stay the same and not slide the actuator new switch new actuator new 4x4 light indicator switch vacuum lines checked for leaks. A posi lock cable looks like trash cut through the floor and bolted inside cab and if something is broke to not operate the switch it shouldn't be or I wouldn't be having the problem fix it right not around it don't want future internal problems

I misunderstood 1 thing....you DON'T have a posilok. My bad. From the other posts, that was my impression.

The switch in the tcase operates with a ball bearing. It gets pushed into change the vacuum direction. So since you've ruled out the vac being issue, then yes I agree it's in the tcase. unfortunately, you'd have to pull the tcase and disassemble to see the issue.

The rod may have worn out. I would think with the tcase out, have the switch unthreaded out, you shift the lever while looking in the switch hole, and maybe get a glimpse of the offending vacancy...??

Are you sure you have the 4 lines set right on the switch?

I have a 3" body lift and it's still super challenging to see which line goes to what port. here is a thread I have showing pictures from my perspective, so I'd think you would have been challenged in changing your switch.

WN,
That was my bad for some reason I had it in my head that he had a posi loc already.

If the range rod isn't pushing on the switch then you are going to have to drop your transfer case and open it up to see WHY???

Grab the 01 service manual from here. It will be the same as you 99.
