Default Socket

Does anybody know where I could get a socket for these studs? I lost mine and I need to take off my rims to do brakes. I think the rims are either American Racing or Cragar. They were on the truck when I bought it. Any help is appreciated

Your local tire shop should be able to get one

Any decent auto repair shop should have a wheel lock removal set that should take these special lug nuts off. They would likely be damaged during removal. Is there any issue with replacing the lug nuts with better looking, non-rusted nuts? If not, pick up a new set of lugs nuts and search out a auto repair shop that has the tools to remove the old ones.

It does not look like any special lug nut is needed to bolt those wheels on. I suspect that the standard lug nut to fit that lug stud thread pitch with a 60 degree conical seat taper will work fine. For example, these should fit, once you get those old lug nuts off.

Since you have some room to work, I'd try using a pair of Vice Grips and a hammer to remove your existing lug nuts, one by one.

But don't completely remove them till you have them ALL loosened up a turn. Otherwise, that last one is gonna be a real drag to get loose.

Get them all to turn a quarter, to half a turn, THEN take them off.

I found a socket that may work. Cornwell tools has a dodge wheel stud/nut socket. I have it and it feels like it'll work. I need a 1/2" extension to use it though. Hopefully this will do the trick. Thanks guys, btw has anybody had any issues changing out the rotors and brake pads up front?

Disc brakes are easy on the half tons.... If you are changing pads/rotors, it's about a 30 minute job.

Oh, sweet. I never did brakes before on my truck so I was wondering. Maybe I won't have to have someone else do them then. Heyyou, is there a better place to get rotors and pads besides rock auto?
