Default Fastman throttle body

Okay guys I have been researching the heck out of a fastman throttle body. My dodge has the 5.2 in it and so far I have done 1.7 Harland sharps pacesetter headers, flow master 40 series exhaust and an SCT tune from Hemifever. Now I have read some people see a good bump with the 50mm throttle body for the 5.2, but for every good opinion I read a bad one. I have also read that the fastman modded throttle body will do no good unless you have an M1 air gap. I am just on the fence about getting one. Would it be worth the 265 or just save up some more and get the M1 and then get the fastman 50 mm throttle body.

There used to be a few EBay sellers that had the 50mm guys for about half that price... not sure if they are still around or not.

Could score a used TB from the junkyard, take it to the machine shop, and have it punched out for a lot less than that too.... (which is basically what the fastmans are...)

The eBay sellers are still around. Get a 50 for 100 or 52 for 150. They'll even give you 25 bucks if you send them a core.

With you complimenting mods you should get a nice little gain. Just don't expect too much.

Do you think that one on ebay will be as good as the fastman?

I think the Fastman does more than just machine out the throttle body:

It sounds quite exacting.

Having said that, I've got the 50mm Fastman throttle body on my otherwise stock 5.2 engine. Can't say I really noticed a difference. Might fall under "can't hurt, might help".

I think about the only additional trick they do is the throttle shaft.

I've run every TB made....From a Fastman on my 4.7 and 5.9, all the F&B TBs on my Dakota. For what it's worth...My Dakota is carbed and my Ram has an EBAY 50 TB...Unless you are going big, no reason to go to a Fastman or F&B, although some say the F&B kills a ported stocker which the Ebay and Fastman are.

The Ebay seller is a standup guy.
