i have unplugged it. i have tried to remove it before and it is pretty rusted on there. i have soaked it with pb blaster but it will not budge. so as far as removing it i cant get it to brake lose. i have the scoket needed but cant get to brake free. and i would do a compression test but i dont have the tools to do the job.

Ah. Got a long pipe or something you can use to get more leverage?

Most chain auto parts stores will rent the equipment for $100 or so, you get it all back once you return the tools.

It all sounds like failed plenum and clogged catalytic converter though.

How are the emission laws in your area?

take off the filter box, crack the throttle wide open (engine NOT running....), and have a look. If you see pooling oil, plenum is definitely blown.

There is a guy here that sells the plate, and bolts, on ebay for significantly cheaper, just buy a good gasket set from your local parts store. (Fel-Pro.) Save you a bit of money.
