Default T-case fitment ?

Will a t-case from a 2000 R1500 5.2 auto fit a 96 R1500 5.9 auto ? Is the shifter the same ?

No, the shift pattern and linkage is different. Your truck also has the speed sensor in the transfer case while that one doesn't. I think for a direct replacement your looking at 94-97.

Probably not, as the drive gear won't be on the output shaft either.

I don't know if the shaft/tailhousing will swap.... take it apart and see. Nothing to lose by trying.
