Truck sounds like it's under a have load
I have A 99 Ram 1500 4x4 with 5.9L V8 Magnum that the water pump went out on. In the process of repairing the truck I had to take an air hammer/chisel to the fan clutch nut. after looking at the nut I no longer felt that I could trust it's integrity, so I bought a new fan clutch and installed it. Now the truck sounds like it's under a heavy load (as if I was starting up a hill from a dead stop pulling a trailer load down with 2 yards of gravel). I have also notice that the RPMs seem to be higher than normal. The RPMs reach 3k just getting up to 35 mph. (driving normally)
I'm wondering if I might have gotten a bad fan clutch. Just need a few other opinions here.

Throttle Valve cable. Here's a link with instructions on how to check/adjust it. Scroll down until you see it.

Didn't forget to release the parking brake did ya? When the engine is cold and off try to spin by hand. Should spin but have some resistance. If it spins easily or not at all it's bad.

You didn't happen to get a "heavy duty" fan clutch, did you?
I replaced mine with a heavy duty clutch following a plenum repair, and noticed that it sounded like a jet engine spooling up when I first turned it over. Every so often, I would get the same roar at startup that would last until the engine got warm. Figured it was just the oil or whatever in the clutch spinning until it realized it was warm but not hot and didn't need to turn the fan.
Recently went to an efan setup and haven't looked back.

Otherwise, fan clutch should have absolutely nothing to do with shift points. I'd follow HeyYou's advice and check the throttle valve cable. It's on the throttle body, passenger side, and runs towards the firewall on its way to the tranny.

After looking at the receipt and the box and match up the part numbers to napa's website it looks like what I got is a Severe Duty Fan Clutch. The other ones list are heavy duty or Severe Duty. Also looked at the websites for other part houses in the area and these are the only two options list, no one seem to have just a standard one listed.
