Yep, should be a test port on your fuel rail. You want to see right around 39 PSI there.

Guys,

I never could find a gauge that would go to 40psi so took a leap of faith at RockAuto and bought a new pump. That makes three pumps in 19 years. Anyway, it started right up. Thanks for the help.

I would like to install a gauge permanently, if anyone knows where to get one. I also lost the little red slide on the electrical plug on the pump. Used a piece of shielded wire from 14 gauge romex to ensure secure connection.

No fuel inside the cab. John Law will get VERY upset if you do that. There are electrical gauges, and there are also isolators available to have your FP gauge inside the cab.

Guys. Update. My '95 1500 5.9 would not start this am. Checked spark and air, all ok. Fuel is coming from the pump and is getting at least to the midline connection under the truck but I have no pressure in the rail. I don't have the tool to get the line disconnected at the rail in order to check it. Could there be a clog in the line or rail?

Also is it possible to disconnect the fuel line at the midpoint under the truck and blow the line backwards from the valve on the rail? Any other trick I could use?

have to ask, how do you know your getting fuel halfway? It could also be that your pump went out, as much as you dont want to hear that. You should be able to blow the line backwards, but not through the pump. And does your pump have the filter on it, or do you have an inline filter?

How cold is it? Did it just freeze?

Gas may come out at the mid point, simply from siphon effect. That doesn't mean the pump is actually pumping..... You should be able to rent a fuel pressure gauge, and the release tool from the local parts store.

Guys. You will like this. I disconnected the fuel line midline connector and had my son turn on the key. Sprayed me with gas but there was a strong stream from the pump. I also prior to that pulled the line from the pump and sprayed myself there as well. Seems to me I have pressure at least to the midpoint of the line but nothing at the rail. Not even a small squirt. Could the pump be failing when pressure is in the line?

Disconnect the line at the rail, and see what you get. If you don't get much, try blowing backwards thru it, see if anything interesting comes out.
