Default Is there a serial number I can run on the 46re

I'm looking at a used 46re the guy is telling me it's from a 2000. Is there any serial numbers on the housing that will conform that it is on fact from a 2000? Cause I've been told on her from a few people that I need a 2000-2001 46re for it to work correctly in my 2001 dodge ram

I believe that means September of 91........ but, if it is a 46RE, that ain't right..... Supposedly, the date is based on a 10,000 day calendar... so, day 991 since the starting date... whenever that was..... taking a wild stab in the dark here.... thinking the the 46RE started with the 96 model year..... so probably august (or so) of 95.... The would make the trans a 98, or 99. I think.... It will bolt right in, and hook right up, but, you need to change the governor pressure sensor, and solenoid, for your 2000 PCM to play nice. There is a bracket that is different between the years, which you could swipe outta the old trans.

Well that's the one from the other fourm it's not the one I'm looking at.
I'm waiting in the guy to send me a pic of the code

But the kne currently in my 2001 dodge ram is stamped
Bk52119846ab 1151 1767

So if the serial number is close to the 1151 on the one I'm looking at it should be a 2000 or 2001

That seems like a perfectly reasonable assumption.

Worst case, it will give you a bit of trouble. I think the trans temp sensor/pressure sensor give different signals in the 00 and up trans.... so, your trans temp lite may come on, and disable O/D. if that happens, just change the electronics, and you will be good to go.

Correct me if I'm wrong but your saying the trans temp sensor and pressure sensor is different in the 2000 and up so it may give me problems.... I have a 2001 so wouldn't a 2000 46re have the same sensor as my 2001

That is indeed correct. Find out what the numbers are on the 'new' trans, and compare. If it is close, or higher than yours, should work just fine.
