Default High beam indicator stays on ?

1998 ram 2500 Diesel. High beam indicator stays on all the time. The headlights will dim but indicator stays on high beam. Also, when lights are on dim they are Very dim like they aren't getting enough current ? I have tried cleaning every ground I can find. Any help would be great. Also it has the 9004 bulbs which from what I can find is what it is supposed to have? Thanks

Bulbs are correct.

Do all four work? (hi/lo on both sides....) Think I would start by pulling the headlight switch, and see what things look like there.

Weird question but where was your truck built? If it was made in Canada or had daytime running lights as an option it sounds exactly like my problem when the control module failed.

As I said you would likely only have one if your truck was built for Canada Specs

Double check those lamps. Your symptoms are just like stuffing 9007's where 9004's belong, or vice-versa. JUST like it. Make doubly sure that the filaments are transverse rather than axial -- see here for the difference.

What's the relevant history prior to the occurrence of your symptom?

Default high beam indicator stays on

To unregistered user (champion) Thank You ! Took a test light to the headlight plugs. The plugs WHERE wired for 9007s but 9007s would not fit in the buckets. Swapped wires around to fit 9004s. Works properly now, EXCEPT the dims are excessively dim???
