o/d light comes on shortly after trans temp light comes on
P1740 suggests the OD solenoid is faulty . Given you loose OD , why not start there ? Seems way more likely than the TC clutch , and when they suffer loss of OD from cold , they don't drop OD . They just won't go back in if shifted out until temp is reached . I've waited 10 mins idling to get back in OD .
To re-cap . You installed new governor pressure solenoid and switch , and this ?

I don't think the PCM will turn on the trans temp light if it doesn't get as warm as it thinks it should.... It WILL, however, turn on the light if the trans gets warmer than the PCM thinks it should.
Well it's been awhile, but I replaced the trans pan with a deeper pan and that seemed to have fixed the problem knock on wood, I have been driving the truck a few weeks now putting a lot of highway miles on it And nothing bad hopefully this helps others in the future if you have the same problem. Thanks for all the advice!!
You are correct, the light will not come on if it the fluid gets to cold, but you will lose OD until it warms up. Found that out driving at highway speed with a bad fan clutch and temps reaching -25.
