Default o/d light comes on shortly after trans temp light comes on

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4wd 106,000 miles, this morning I was on the expressway 10 miles or so were good then the overdrive light kicked on and kicked it self out of over drive shortly after that the trans temp light came on, I have replaced the 3 solenoid's inside the trans not the wire harness on top of the valve body and removed the check valve, what could that be?

Welcome to DF.

Probably wouldn't hurt to disconnect the cooler lines from the trans, and make sure you can get good flow thru it. (backflush it. Can't hurt.)

Did you replace the pressure sensor as well? If the wrong part was installed, it gives the wrong signal to the PCM, and this is what you end up with. Or, it may have failed....

Solenoid and sensor are two different parts, but, they are both within a couple inches of each other. Shoulda been in the same general vicinity as the solenoid.

You have the symptoms of having the wrong one. Got a receipt with a part number?

That I could not verify, I know that the sensor and all solenoids were putback in with original parts, I was told it was the torque converter "going".

Does the torque converter clutch slip?

Things changed for the pressure sensor in 00. If they put in the wrong one, it will give you those symptoms. Did you do it? Or did you have a shop do it?

I did it, but it was doing this same thing before I replaced those parts and as far as I know it doesn't slip it locks up then goes in to O/d.
