Help me please
I have a 2001 1500 with the 5.9 v8. the problem that I am having is when I drive down the road all of a sudden the check gages light comes on and the voltage drops to nothing then after those problems were happening now it will not fire all it will do its turnover a bunch of times and will finally fire if you put gasoline or starting fluid through the throttle body it will stay running at an idle and then the moment you try to drive or are driving it will throw the check gauges light again and the voltage will drop once more you can drive very short time and then it will die you go to start it again and it will just turn over and not fire unless you put gasoline to the throttle body again.what could be the cause of this problem I have already change out cam position censored somebody had told me that the voltage regulator inside of the ECM could have failed and that is why the truck will not charge and the voltage will just drop but why will the truck not fire on its own it is getting spark fuel up to the rail and is turning over just fine it seems that the injectors are not opening up to let the fuel into the cylinders somebody please please help me
Have you done a load test on the battery?
If the battery is bad, and the ECM reads low voltage, it will stop the spark, or stop the injectors from working.
The battery may have enough juice to crank the motor, but still be bad enough to cause the ECM to shut down certain systems.
May possibly be something else, but it can't hurt to load test the battery for a start.

If spraying it makes it start, fuel pump could be starting to go. Or ground wire somewhere. Maybe throttle body is dirty. Could be the computer going out to, i have personaly seen a computer do that also!
If you can keep it running by dumping gas down the throttle body, that indicates fuel pump not pumping. That does not mean the fuel pump is bad, it may not be being told to pump. If you turn the key on you should hear it pump up. You can also check the pressure at the Shrader valve on the fuel rail. Once it is running the PCM tells the pump to pump fuel. The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) is typically in the circuit. The IAC (Idle Air Control valve) may also be in that circuit. Maybe one of the experts can say for sure. The Cam Shaft Sensor you changed. If you have a reader, see what codes are being displayed. If you have P0320 probably the CPS. When My CPS died, my truck would shut down and not start. The not starting was due to no spark because the PCM would not send the pulse signal to the coil. In your case, you have to figure out for sure if you have a fuel problem first.
The pump is working because once it fires it will run / idle all day long but one you go to drive it the dash goes check guages and then it will die
