Default 2001 Dodge 1500...Loss of power

Title kinda says it all. I have a 2001 Dodge 1500 with the 5.2L engine in it and have a complete loss of power when at a complete stop. I have had my mechanic look into it but he can't seem to figure out what is going on. My truck is an auto trans and has 35" tires on it.

It shifts through all gears when you get it going. I have checked the TPS and the fuel pressure. Also my mechanic cut out the cat in it and that seemed to help a little bit.

If anyone has any info or suggestions please help!!

Thanks Will

I know you mean otherwise, but you're supposed to have a complete lock of power when at a complete stop. Have you checked the plenum? Before you ask what that is, search for it. Common problem with these trucks. Sounds like your "mechanic" is guessing if he just decided to cut off the cat without doing some research. Welcome to the forum.

35" tires and 3.55 gears probably don't help either.

Are you sure you are getting 1st gear starts ? The sensor/switch can cause 2nd gear starts . Feels dead off the line with no lift .

Try manually pulling it to 1st gear just after you start rolling , you'll feel it drop from 2nd to 1st if it's the issue .

Yeah I had that issue about 2 years ago. Switched the sensor and screen and she ran like new. Its still having issues now but it'll start in first gear and go through all.

My truck ran fine and had tons of power before (with the lift and tires on it) so I don't think it should cause an issue now..
