Default Tranny problems!

So ran into somthing funny. Whent to help my wife's cuzin out. He and his dad had taken his 46re tranny out of a 2000 dodge 1500. Swapped outer casing and revers band with an identical Transmission. They reinstalled it and now the engien won't stay running. Starts and then stalls. Transmission says it's in gear 3 when engines off and ingnition on. No dtc's. Any thoughts on this? When it dose run you have to feather the throttle and it misses and back fires. Seems to me that thiers three problems here but I'm not verry familiar with these engine's and transmissions.

Any thoughts as to any common problems like this. Or any ideas as where to start looking?

Probably crunched the crank sensor when removing/installing trans. They are frequently a casualty of such operations.

Make sure your shift linkage is adjusted properly.

Also does the engine stall in a forward gear or reverse or both?
