Default Seat belt not long enough

Howdy,

So I feel like my seat belt isn't quite long enough. Granted, I am a bigger guy, but the belt in my caravan works fine for me, and this one seems kinda tight. I was just reading in the service manual something about a solenoid in the seat belt that latches the belt. I'm just wondering if maybe this could be part of my issue. I feel like the seat belt light does something funny, but I can't remember exactly what other than I thought the buckle might have an issue. That was before I read that the buckle affects the chime only, and not the light. It seems like the light stays on longer than it should, but it does eventually go out.

I'll get more detail on the light activity next time I drive it.

Sorry if this is a bit ramble-y, it's been a long day, lol.

If the solenoid locks the belt, it won't retract. If it's retracting, then grab a flashlight, draw the belt out as far as it'll go, and look through the hole through which the belt exits the seat. If you see the plastic spool with no belt wrapped around it, it's all the way out and you need an extender.

Thx, good idea. I appreciate it. I'll let you guys know what I find out next time I'm in the truck.

GM hands out extensions for free. Chrysler probably does the same.

My father is a bigger guy as well, and I purchased a seat belt extended from the local Dodge Dealership.

Yes, purchase. Chrysler likes to charge for these. Had to purchase one for the Durango. It was around $20 or so.

Yes, I want to say it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $15.00.

I have some extenders for the back seat of my quad cab...for those times I pick up those 3 AM chicks from the GILF bar.
