Erm, are you SURE it's your lifters you are hearing, and not spark knock? (sounds VERY similar.) I would bet real money your plenum is blown, and you are actually hearing the spark knock... would be a real bummer to spend that kind of money, and NOT fix the problem.

Let me know if that is normal for this engine. I had a Tundra that use to go from 20 to 60 PSI depending on idle and speed and it was fine.

Ping sounds like marbles in a can being shaken. Lifters sticking sound like air pressure popping (at least when mine did). Put some Seafoam in the crankcase for a week before your next oil change, then put in MaxLife 10w40. Cured my lifter and that was 4 years ago. I agree the lifters should not be replaced unless you're doing a new engine anyway.
