Default Lifters on a 360.

I have a question. I need to do the lifters on my Ram with the 360, Do I repair them or would it be cheaper to just buy the heads and replace them?
Either way the heads have to come off so I was just thinking which way would be cheaper.

Just replace them. Why do you think you need to?

Heads don't need to come off to replace the roller lifters, just the intake, valve covers, and rocker arms.

Replace, and as asked... why?

To clarify, are you guys saying to replace the HEADS, or the lifters? I'm assuming lifters, but OP seems convinced he may need to replace heads.

They're saying to replace the lifters. You don't have to pull the heads to replace the lifters.

That's a lot of work just to replace a set of lifters. If you commit to that, you'd also want to commit to a pretty comprehensive "refresh"... At least include the plenum gasket job and a new timing chain set.

I, too, am curious why you are ready to retire your current lifters. If they are a little noisy, there's other things I'd try first before signing up for tearing out the old ones.

Default Lifter question

OK then I should replace just the Lifters and not the heads. My question was which way is cheaper so I guessing the lifter replacement is the cheapest way to go. As far as why I should replace the lifters is they make a racket especially on acceleration. so replace the lifters it will be.

Erm, are you SURE it's your lifters you are hearing, and not spark knock? (sounds VERY similar.) I would bet real money your plenum is blown, and you are actually hearing the spark knock... would be a real bummer to spend that kind of money, and NOT fix the problem.

What does your oil pressure look like?
