Default Blower setting ****

The settings for the strength of the blower are 1 2 3 4. 1 has not worked for some time. 2, 3, and 4 have always worked until this morning. Now, only 4 works. So, the only way to have heat is to have it blasting on 4. I was hoping someone could give me a clue as to where to start and what to do. Thanks!

Resistor block for the blower motor. If you look under the dash on the passenger side, there is a wire from the blower motor, that goes to the bottom of the heater box, and a bunch more wires coming out. That's the resistor block. Replace it.

Ok. You fellas were right. The blower issue was fixed by replacing the blower motor resistor. Now, here's the new problem. The new one that I installed is now not working. The little strip of metal, that works as a fuse I suppose, came apart. So, I replaced the replacement, and now the newest one has quit working. Although I have not taken it out yet, I assume that it is the same problem. It just happened so I have not had time to check it out, plus it is dark outside. So, what in the world could be cause those metal strips to blow????

Wonder if you have a bad ground. It shouldn't eat them like that.

Ok. I had heard that burning smell was the factory blower motor pulling to much amperage through the replacement blower motor resistor. Also, I had heard that this was an issue and that these two parts really should be sold in pairs. When you replace the resistor, replace the motor. I bought a pair together and installed them and I have not had any more issues.
