This I'm painfully aware of now , I just wish the shop that told me it wasn't nessasary would own up to it, regardless I've been trying to tune it for several months now. The big issue is that I can't find anyone in my city or near that can tune it , I only have data logging with my OT-2 LC-2 and emailing tunes. Swapping parts like a mad man, I've had my truck into 4 different shops trying to figure out the last issue, which is when slowing down the idle drops then bounces up and drops to where the truck quits. New IAC, fuel sync is +11 as my tuner specified , no vacuum leaks, no exhaust leaks, etc etc

Look I am not trying to be an *** here but if you had asked lots of questions you would not be in this situation right now. Are you saying you asked questions here or from the shop that told you the wrong info?

And again you're not going to find a dyno shop that can tune a Dodge. Now if you want to do away with having to email logs to Ryan and then get a new tune from him get a stand alone ECM for the engine like people did before SCT offered the tuner. There is MegaSquirt and the Fast system. Accel makes one also. Find a shop that is familiar with one of these stand alone systems and have the shop install and tune it for you.

Fuel sync is +11? Holy smokes....... I would be real curious what his rationale is for that......

On my old '91 Mustang, I bumped the dashpot decay rate up to keep it from stalling out when I pulled up to a stop.

PIE is able to tune these motors with the SCT that are turbo and or blown up to 700+hp so way does he need a stand alone pcm?????? Lots of theory here no practicality/hands on experience.

Not to many success stories here on DF with the 408 Wm got his motor from a member that could never get it to run right, don't think I have seen more than two here work good over the years here.

Merc,
Because of research I have done before a piggyback or stand alone PCM is just one way to solve the problem and because the OP keeps talking about wanting to have a shop that can tune his rig. Also not to trash anyone as I don't have direct knowledge but some of the feedback on PIE I have been hearing isn't stellar.

Yes I agree that Flyin Ryan can and has tuned a lot of 408 engines for the Dakota crowd successfully. I am just trying to give the OP other options that maybe he hasn't considered.

Hopefully I will have my engine back together and installed into my Jeep by June. Then we will see if I can get the 408 tuned and running correctly.

I am not saying at all that PIE is god not even close, but they say it can be done with the sct tuner. Look people build a 408 drop it in and expect it to run great make huge tire smoking hp, with stock injectors, stock kegger intake, stock fuel delivery system, stock ign system, things like that, the motor itself is a very small part of the package.

I was just stopping in here to respond to a few pm's, not going to be staying so best of luck guys.
