Default Complete Front Brake Failure

Wrecked my baby. Hit the brakes and slid into a ford ranger. When I hit the Brakes, the back brakes locked up and the front brakes did absolutely nothing. Didn't help that it was rainy and cold out. But all back brakes no front brakes. The back brakes didn't act like they were antilock at all. Just locked up and stayed lacked until the ranger stopped me. Why? Why did this happened to my baby?

Blew a line, or the master cylinder. The rear abs on these trucks is pretty much worthless. (as you have just discovered) Sorry 'bout your truck man.

Yep. Blew a line or a caliper seal.

After the wreck, I drove to a dental appointment and back home. Only back brakes the whole way.

Just ordered all the parts to fix it though. Front bumper. And the morning after the wreck the hood flew up against the windshield. So got a new hood, hood hinges and grill all on the way. But I gotta get these brakes right before I'll drive it again

Then you need to go look, and see what's going on.

Sorry to say this, may sound mean, but that wa pretty dumb to keep driving thast truck after already being in one accident because 50% of your brakes dont work. I would not drive it anymore until you gvet the brakes checked/fixed. You asking for trouble. I'd be more concerned and working towards making the truck safe to drive again instead of replacing body parts damaged during a collision. You better move would be to have inspected the front brakes and ordered whatever parts you need to have functioning brakes again to have "on the way".

You may want to add what kind of truck? 2 wheel or 4 wheel anti lock. Are your abs or brake lights on? Did you check the master cylinder to see if it has fluid in it?

I may not have made it clear. I drove from the scene of the accident( after the exchange of information of course) to my dental appointment. Didn't go home then to Dental. I only attempted to drive the truck the next day because I was planning on dropping it off at the mechanic during my lunch break. The parts I have ordered is because with no Hood, I cannot get it to the mechanic to get it looked at. Even though I have a degree in advanced electronics and another degree in automotive technology, I do not have the proper tools to diagnose and repair these breaks at home. I don't play that game. Drive train and suspension? I'm all over it. Brakes? Leave it to the guy that does it for a living and has proper tools to do the job correctly. So nice assumption ole great and powerful rude one. Your not the only one with a brain.

Default 2001 Quadcab XLT 2WD

Mechanic just replaced the master cylinder not to long ago. Level of brake fluid did not change after the accident. No brake warning lights on the dash. Plenty of pedal pressure. Everything looks and feels normal except for front brakes not engaging. Pedal does feel a little spongy but I'm pretty sure it's due to the soft brake lines being old. I will have the mech replace those when I'm able to get the truck to him. What my question is now is. Proportioning valve? Does this one work on a front to back system? Or a left side right side system? Is a 2001 Quadcab Laramie, 2WD. RWAL
