The problem with the Gear Vendors overdrive box is that you have a 4x4 and the box won't go between your tranny and the transfer case. I don't know if they even make one that would bolt to the rear of your transfer case. If they did then you would only be able to use it in 2wd.
Lets start at the basics. Why do you want or need 8 gears instead of your 4 gears? Also how much are you wanting to spend?

The truck belongs to my son and I didn't know it was already a overdrive 4 speed. I should have done some home work before coming on here. I am sorry I wasted your time but appreciate the help I received.I think the truck is ok the way it is. The Gearvender box may be good for his 68 Dart 340 Auto.

He can put in a A518/46re in it! They can be modified to even fit big blocks.
