Exclamation 98 1500 t case grinding

hHey guys i just put a new frount axel in my truck and got all done and went on a test ride while in 2wheel HI im getting a grinding noise out of the transfer case i can feel it on the dog leg shifter. if i put the truck in 4 wheel the noise goes away. put it in 2wheel HI and the noise is back, its not a all the time noise its just does it here and there. didnt get it over 35mph.

Any help would be great

Thanks guy,
Andrew

Get a buddy and find out for sure where the noise is coming from. Or shift to 4wd with the engine running and jack up the front passenger's tire and see if you can spin the tire by hand. Brake on, in park, etc.

If it's coming from inside the transfer case, it's best to stop driving it and pull the thing out and tear it down.

I think its in the T case you can feel it on the shifter when it does it. When it's in 4wd it doesn't make any sounds....

I would take the suggestion in an earlier post then, and have a look at the CAD on the front axle. (noise/vibration can do strange things on these trucks.....)
