Default s&b air intake

so i see that most guys recommend sticking with the stock intake and swap out the cheap filter with something higher quality.

what about this one?

http://www.sbfilters.com/index.php/d...75-1511-1.html

i personally hate the stock one because of that damn band that attaches it to the tb. its a real pain. this one also utilizes the stock air dam through the side of the fender. take a look and let me know what you guys think. thanks

I don't know..... for 200 bucks, I can be pretty tolerant...... Not like I have to take the air box off all that often.

Yep. More money to spend on something that actually makes a difference.

i will not being buying the k and n kit because its pulling air from inside the engine bay. the stock unit is pulling air from the air dam in the fender. thats why if i do buy a new intake it will be this unit cause it still pulls lower temp air from outside the engine bay unlike the k and n. i was hoping someone here had this s and b kit.

Not if you remove the rubber baffle next to the radiator.

Heck, you could cut a small scoop into the hood above the filter.

Search around on the Dakota forums. The difference in temp of the air. Once moving. Is just a couple degrees. completely neglible.

The main benefit of the stock style is it is very well protected from water/mud/ debris over there in the fender.

I just put a 14x3 on my truck. Sounds awesome. Still runs great.

That is true... it depends on the intended use.
