Thanks to you guys for the comments. I don't really expect to get great mileage out of the truck, just a bit better perhaps. It gets around 12 now. That's with or without a trailer behind it. I don't lead foot my vehicles any more. The tire sizes are jut the usual 285x70R-16. I was a salesman for a local Ford dealership, and sold a guy a 5.0 Ford XLT, and he said he improved his mileage from 16-17, to approximately 20-21 just by going to a Bosche Platinum Plus plug, with no change in driving habits. We'll see if it works for me, and I'll give a shout if it does any better.

I got 11 mpg on my 5.4 f150 and get 11 on my 01 5.9. Wish I could get a little bit more. My grand Cherokee with the 4.7 v8 got 17.

After replacing practically ALL of my sensors (which I now have to replace the CKPS with a genuine Mopar one this weekend cause the generic one is crapping out) from coolant temp down to both O2 sensors, replacing plugs, wires, distributor, coil.

And exhaust from headers back cause of a clogged cat, I've jumped from 10-12 to 15-16 on the highway. Hitting 200 miles just before I hit the 1/2 tank mark.

Too bad all this crap had to be done in January/February outside in the cold..

I don't always drive like a puss, but when I do, my MPG's make a small jump.

That's what I get on those rare occasions when I see flat highway with a 65MPH speed limit and no appreciable wind. At 75MPH it's more like 12-14, depending upon wind speed and direction. Around home I don't even bother measuring because it's pointless.

Holy smokes that's not good at all. 250 is just under half a tank for me. I think your math is way off. That means your getting about 5 mpg When I first got my truck 11 years ago I could push 450 miles per tank, now as it's gotten older and more wore out its about 375-400/tank

You have a long bed, therefore, a 35 gallon tank. His is probably only 26.

Really? I though all 3/4 ton and 1 tons had 35 gallons regardless of bed length. Well played!

I think the 35 gallon tank is too tight of a fit for the shortbed trucks.

Guys I have a 24 gallon tank from almost dead empty, at 65 mpg I spool 2000 rpms, this truck drinks gas, After this jeep motor for my daughter, I am going with 4:10's with 315's thanks to the website that you guys gave me. I should spool around 1500 to 1700, hopefully. I get truly 250 miles to possibly 270 if I don't jump in the gas to often.
