I think to fix your speedo, and trans issues, you are going to have to replace the t-case with a 94-97 unit. That will actually have the provision for the VSS.

But.... Your trans has a mechanical governor...... 1st-3rd should shift appropriately, regardless of what electronics are there/not there. Unless it is the wrong trans as well......

Check the connector that goes down into the top of the valve body, probably need a mirror to see into it.... how many pins? (I am going to guess.... 8, which is just wrong for your truck.)

Will also try and get a pic of the tran pan...maybe that will help determine the right trans.

They all look alike. The only external difference is the connector for the trans electronics.... RH is 3 pin, RE is 8 pin.

That's a 96 or newer trans, and explains why you have no automatic functions.......

Two choices here:

1: Upgrade wiring to 96-97 OBDII computer. Not too much of an ordeal, but, you will still need to replace the t-case, as speedo info started coming from just the rear wheels speed sensor in 98 (or 99?), and too much other stuff changed to make THAT conversion workable......

2. Find a trans/t-case out of a 94-95 truck....... (t-case can be 94-97)

3.... Always an option as well..... Manual trans conversion. Still need the 94-97 t-case though.

Well....been trying to source a 95 core for decent money...hahaha...what a joke. EVen if i did find one it would cost an arm and a leg to do a full rebuild on it. So im at 1400...

Im sourcing the wireharnes swap and see if it will be much different or even feasible to do. I have heard of it being done on older trucks...not that this one new. The pcm might be my biggest expense...not counting my time rerun the whole thing.

Where ya at? I have a 46RH core out in the barn...... it would HAVE to be rebuilt..... but, I'd let it go cheap.
