Smile 1995 V10 Bad camshaft position sensor ? Where can I get one?

Hello,

My name is Richard and I recently bought a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 with a V10. It seems to have been well taken care of but I have this recurring problem. It started a while ago and seems to happen after it gets hot, most of the time. What it does is the check engine light comes on and it starts running rough, like it is only running on 4 out of the 10 cylinders.
A little background. I have had a couple mechanics look at it and through some parts at it but they still have not figured it out. The OBD1 does not hold any codes for some reason. Anyway to date I have replaced plugs, wires, both coil packs, fuel pump/filter, crank shaft sensor. I'm now leaning towards the Camshaft position sensor and this is where I run into trouble. They don't make them anymore. I have tried all of the local parts stores and not so local, Ebay, amozon, rockauto and any other vintage auto place I can find. And everyone's the same, they might say they have it then when you go to checkout, Or soon after checking out I get a message that they are on back order. (EVERYWHERE). Does anyone now where I can get a camshaft position sensor or a work around. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Wow.... Have you tried the dealer? They may be able to locate one for you.....

Checked the stores around me, yep, nobody has one..... Another option might be to see if the Viper part will work. (don't hold your breath on that though.)

Yes, the dealer says they are on backorder and don't know when they will receive them. Thanks

Any news?
I think you should have someone with a scanner look at it. Especially if the check engine light is on. That code is important.
Your problem is similar to what my v10 did when it was warmed up.
Turns out the intake manifold gasket was leaking on one side of the engine and only when the engine was warm.

I know this may sound odd, and likely is not your problem. I had a similar issue with a Buick lesabre, after more than a year and a half of mechanics, and guess work, and unneeded parts it turned out to be the catalytic converter. When my exhaust got hot or warmed up, the car ran rough and often would begin to sputter at anything above 60 mph.

Mobil One and stock OEM filter on my '12 Crew, '17 Citadel and '06 Pacifica. All three were/are 6 bangers and never had any problems, and do oil changes every 7,500 miles.

Default What to check when replacing tranny gasket and fluid?

Hi. Im new to here. Im pretty handy. Ive had this awesome b2500 which Ive replaced the water pump. All hoses. Radiator. Brakes. Bearings front. Alternator. Etc. I see alot of greases and such coming from clutch plate area. Ive got my new filter gasket. Atf+4. Drained the brownish pink fluid safely. Cleaned everything real well.

What should I look for and or check now that my pans off?
Thanx

Adjust the bands and any large metal pieces or a bunch of shavings
