Brake calipers does this look right?

Default Brake calipers does this look right?

Just got done installing new hubs brakes and rotors. Its my first time and everything went great. I even managed not to screw up the passenger side axle seal. I purchased some loaded calipers, already had the brakes and everything ready to go out of the box. Napa guy said all you do is put it onto the rotor. So I cleaned the rotors off prepped it blah blah blah. But one thing I noticed was that on the passenger side the caliber screws in until the bolt is hitting the rotor? On the drive side the bolts is nice and tight? Whats up with that? Did I do something incorrectly?

Here is the passenger side. Note how the threads are still showing but if I tighten anymore the bolt with begin to hit on the rotor. The caliber does have room to adjust however.

And heres the drive side all nice and tight, same thing pads dont touch rotor unless im braking. And also have the same amount of room to adjust.

its also true that the calibers slide to adjust right?

In your first photo, is the sleeve on the caliper bolt? Looks crooked...... if there is a sleeve, I would be tempted to remove it, (they just slide out) and compare it to another one. Make sure they are the same length. That is NOT right.

Calipers will adjust themselves to where they need to be, the first time you step on the brakes.

Make DAMN sure you pump up your brakes before you even consider putting the truck in gear the first time.

make sure the bolts are the same lengths right? it does have a sleeve in it. Must be from the angle there both nice and straight. I put locktite on the bolts. I my other question is: Do the caliber bolts go fully through the knuckle or will there be some thread left over? I know the old caliber bolts didnt go all the way into the knuckle and looks on my Dana 44 as if some of the bolts only go part way. Maybe im wrong.

Also is it typical for the caliber to have just a little bit of up and down motion? Tried removing the sleeve but then the caliper just slops all over the place. It looks like when it compresses it should be fairly straight. I just want to make sure no bolts are going to come lose especially on the calipers.

I shouldn't stick out so much. I think you have the wrong bolts. They are either flush, or just barely poking out.

Also, I hate keyed bolts and I personally use regular hex heads lol

Don't use lok-tite either. That will make doing your next brake job a nightmare.

Put everything together, (but, not the tires just yet) and pump up your brakes, so everything is where it is supposed to be. See if you have any problem areas.

Yes, the calipers will float a bit. That's ok.

Cool Thanks for the help. Showed a mechanic friend and we were able to get smaller bolts. Thanks for the help. Just wanted to make sure it was okay since this is basically one of the more important things on a vehicle lol

Your caliper basically free floats on slide pins. The cage that holds the pads in is the only thing that's attached.

I hope he bled the brakes after putting those new calipers on.
