no start in park, only neutral

Had a broken spring in 3-4 accumulator, replaced it,truck started in park. this is just a bad dream

Verify your fluid level. Have to check in in neutral, checking in park will give you an artificially high reading.

If that's ok, (or topping off fluid doesn't help....) verify the external linkage is doing what it should.

i think the truck beat me. I dropped the pan again, and there was a broken piece of plastic

Any idea of where it came from? The only plastic I can think of, aside from the accumulator piston, would be the electrical connector.

no idea. its brownish in color.Dropping the valve body again. Im getting pretty good at it.

Take a look at the electrical connector (8 pin) first..... might be a chunk of that.

actually the piece came from the neutral safety switch, but when I dropped the valve body the detent spring and ball fell out. Could that be my problem all along?

Possibly, if the linkage wasn't staying in the right spot to trigger the switch......

well the ball bearing decided to make a run for it, guess ill be looking for that
