Ignition timing
Now I just bought a 97 1500 with the 5.9. I realized that when the number 1 cylinder is at TDC, the rotor is actually pointing to number 8 cylinder.. so I had to change my wires on the cap just so the truck will actually run. Now my question is, I understand the ecm controls ignition timing. So if I move the distributor so everything lines up correct, what are the issues I'll have with my fuel sync and ignition timing?
No need to resync. It runs like a dream! Way better than when I bought it last week. Moving that distributor did wonders honestly. Now I have to fix my p0443. And then I can take it to emissions and get her plated!

Still wouldn't hurt to have sync checked..... Just to be sure. You get a total window of 14 degrees.... (+-7)

Purge solenoid on yours is at the back of the intake manifold, drivers side. Make sure it is plugged in, and all the vacuum lines hooked up.

My buddy had a snap on. I'll Def get it checked when I get it plated just to make sure. As for the purge valve. I threw a new one on along with the canister already because the charcoal was all in the lines. Cleared the lines. Code came back. We'll first time it was a p0441. Now it's the p0443 for the circuit control. I just popped the new one off, stuck open again.. so I made sure nothing else was in the lines and no they were clean. So I got it swapped. Gonna throw it on and make sure I'm getting voltage at my harness. Hopefully all goes well!😊
