I have the Mopar Performance timing set as well. The timing marks on the crank gear are stupid, it has a very large dot on it (which is not the one to use), and a tiny little dot that you can barely even see (use this one). Just be very careful when using this timing set.

If you get the Mopar set, there are 2 dots, a big dot and a teeny tiny little dot that looks more like a machining mistake. The teeny tiny dot on the Cam gear is the one to use. It worked for me. I'd stay away from the Mopar set though because of the dot issue.

I got my Mopar Performance chain with my M1 and I gotta agree the dot issue is dumb. Needs to be more pronounced. However after the big dot wouldn't line up I did some looking I found the little dot. Tried that and it lined up perfect. Double checked the package and it did in fact mention it so I wasn't worried. Also no tensioner.

So, messing with valves and pistons and timing usually gives me pause.
I would like to do this and it seems like it is fairly straight-forward. I couldn't find any write-ups on this in the DIY section. How hard is this and any tips/tricks?

Timing set is actually pretty easy. Dig down to them, line things up, off with the old, on with the new, and down the road you go. This single change made the biggest difference in how my truck ran. I was amazed at the new-found power the engine had. Of course, with over 160K on the originals, it was REALLY sloppy......
