Emergency brake
As I look for the correct "parking cables/emergency brake cables" I'm a little confused which ones to order based on cab models.
I have what I think is a quad cab based on one reference I found. Little doors "some call suicide doors" that open only if the front door is opened first and they swing on a rear hinge. "Quad cab" or maybe its a "Extended Cab"? or does it go by another name? Oh and I keep seeing "Rear Left" Which side is that the Drivers side? Does that mean it includes the cable to both wheels? I have rear discs brakes. Does this cable work on both disc and drum brakes?

Yep, if you have sorta four doors, that's a quad cab.
Rear left is drivers side. You will also need a rear right.
I didn't think any of the 2nd gens had rear disc..... might look at an 02 model year, and it should specify disk, or drum brakes. Yes, they ARE going to be different.

oh you're the moderator: I will go by Quad Cab based on your comment. Hum 2002 you say, because it has 4 disc brakes . VIN 1B7KF23671J543487 Can you nail a parts online parts supplier too?
Can you put a spacer behind the crimp on the end of the front cable where it enters the adjuster, to shorten it up?
Maybe short piece of small steel tubing, split and pry open to fit over the cable, then crimp it closed again.
Back the adjuster off first.
Just thinking out loud.

Parts supplier in Panama? I wouldn't have a clue.
It DOES break down to having four wheel disk though..... I wasn't aware they came that way. (and makes me want to look for the parts to convert mine.....)

I'm leaning in that direction, a fix messing with what I have. It's a typical style of fix here in Panama. I have a trip to Panama City which is 7 hrs mas or menos first to get out of the way. When I get back this and the pinion seal will be the first order of business. Thanks for the input
No I was thinking if you might know of a online parts place "you" preferred in the states. One that would know exactly what parts I should get. It seems there are so many options to consider buying parts for these trucks. I favor parts suppliers that go by VIN numbers. If the cables are stretched then do I buy a complete set from the front pedal to both wheels? Funny but I don't see complete sets being sold. It looks like (1) from pedal (2) two cables to each wheel (3)? and 2 cables with springs on them that connect to the wheel hub brakes.
About the only place I know of that just uses the VIN for finding parts, would be the dealer.... You are pretty much assured of getting the right parts, but, the dealer tends to be THE most expensive source for parts.... (but, even they sometimes have the lowest price..... it happens, just rarely)
Might check Rock Auto, see if they ship to you.
