Default How to fuel sync index manual?

Got a 318 in a 1995 dodge ram 1500 2x4. Broke the bolt that holds the cap on so I replaced the distributor. Did not relieze that these engines are not timed with a timing light. I attempted to manually set the index/fuel sync but could not find the *v8* mark that it's supposed to be set at after tdc. Any advise where this mark is? A photo maybe. I looked on the damper but to no avail

This is for OBD2 so i would assume it's the same for OBD1. This will get it running but you should hook it up to a hand held to adjust it more accurately. #1 cylinder must be on the compression stroke TDC!

Thanks will try that as well again. But the tsb and other people state there is a way to sync it by back probing the dizzy cam sensor wires and fine tuning it that way. Problem is I can an not get it hooked to a computer due to the interior electronics being odb2 and the drivetrain being odb1. Did a power trian transplant and evert hung works except for the odb port. But that's another problem just want to get it fairly close to sync. And can not find this *v8* mark on the damper that they speak of.

Interior electronics? What was changed? The port goes into the pcm. What pcm is in it OBD1 or 2?

Basicly I took the drivetrain out of a 95 with the engine harness and pcm and put it in a 1996 body with the cab harness staying 1996

Ok Thanks what I have found is that I can not find the mark I'm supposed to have the crank set to when setting the sync with a meter.

Procedure for setting fuel sync (static) is on page 8D-27 of the 95 service manual. You can download it from here.
