See if you can find the little box for your alarm. Probably under the dash on the drivers side. I am thinkin' either the fob is bad, your antenna is disconnected, or the alarm is simply failing.

Okay so I think I understand you guys a little better now, let me get this straight...
The truck came factory with power locks and windows, but NOT with a remote fob to keylessly (is that a word?) unlock the doors correct?? So added aftermarket was a security system with fob to unlock them? If that's the case I believe I have found the security module. It's a black box (roughly 4"x6"x1") that doesn't really have a home, just sort of floating above and between my E-brake and service brakes. What gave it away was some stickers that talked about wire routing and to be careful not to pinch wires in steering column, surely this must be it, right?

And HeyYou, the truck came with 2 fobs and neither one works better than the other.

I did replace my antena as the truck didn't come with one, I have a 13" shorty, gets me radio so it must be okay too?

I'm really leaning towards the module itself, or whatever the thing that receives the signal from the fob is.

If both fobs exhibit the same behavior, that does tend to indicate the problem is with the alarm..... The alarm will also have it's own antenna.... probably just a wire that *ends* somewhere.... (and usually black....)

Sounds like you did indeed find the alarm box. Check the connections on the box, make sure everything looks good there.

Okay, so the key fobs work great when i hold them around the security module... so i believe its obviously an antenna/receiving problem, thanks guys, i guess ill have to tear it apart and see where the wires go...
anyways, heres the sticker on my rad support. What do you think? definitely not factory is it?

Thanks for all the help guys, DF rocks!!! So due to my worn out remote I really didn't know what I had, thanks to the kind folks at DF i have figured out I have a compustar pro G8 system installed w/ remote start feature (figured out it does work, but the remote has to be within a foot or two of the module). Obviously I have a signal issue and now i need to figure out why. I was assuming my truck came from factory with RKE, but I guess I was wrong. Anyways, I've sent off an email to compustar support and hopefully they can help me troubleshoot, and get some parts, thanks again guys.
