Stroke it to a 408.

If you don't wanna do a full on engine build just swap the damn LS in it and forget it.

LS swap would require trans, and probably t-case as well. Then you need to worry about driveshaft length, etc.

If he's going from a stock 5.9 to something with 450hp, he really needs to upgrade trans components anyway.

Yeah, not worried about the trans and what it takes to adapt. If I build the 5.9 up, I'd get rid of the 46RE and build an older 727 to get rid of the OD and electronic solenoids anyway.

Stroking it is a good idea.

After running some more numbers, I think I'll have to swap in a 6.0. Keeping this motor doesn;t make sense dollar wise, and if anyone has worked on an LS, they are much easier to work on. The gaskets make it a breeze.

A factory aluminum 6.0 is 345 hp, with tune and some headers I'll be at 400 hp. I can buy a JY 6.0 for less than the price of a set of Eddy Magnum heads.

I personally Haven't worked on an engine easier than a 5.9 magnum. Buds 78 351M is pretty easy. But there is less room in that truck than you think.
