Just curious, my 2nd Gen 1500 has the chrome power mirrors that move in and out. I like them. But they never stay in place. Can I swap out some tow mirrors from a 2500? Is the mounting the same or is some custom work gonna have to go into it? Anyone done this?

Does the glass not stay in place? Or do the windows fold back against the doors at speed?
Mirrors are the same mounting all thru the years/weights. (for 2nd gen.) Power mirror connectors have some differences over the years though.

No the mirror assembly actually folds back towards the door at speed. Not a crap ton, but enough that it needs to be constantly adjusted. But someone isn't always sitting in my passenger seat to adjust the mirror lol. I've always loved the tow mirrors. I like the chrome ones. They just fold too much and the passenger side motor is going out. So I figured I might as well look into getting tow mirrors. Will the connector for the tow mirror be the same if I get them for a 97 2500 though since I'm in the same year?

I don't recall if you can tighten some nuts to fix that....... But, you can pretty much take any power mirrors and bolt 'em on. (or non-power for that matter.)
Okay, well I gotta do some work on it after work today so I'll look into tightening it if possible to hold me over. I don't think they are but it's worth looking into. Thanks for your help good sir!
There was a TSB to correct the problem with the mirrors moving. I remember it involved fashioning and then fastening a piece of metal between the door and the mirror base.
