If there is no vac switch, then this tcase is not for a Dodge. I should have pictures here to show where on the tcase.

Don't buy it....I'm thinking.

Wouldn't he have to use a 98+ t case because the shift mechanism is completely different between the 94-97 and 98-01?

And in 98 the speed sensor moved to the rear diff, no? My 98 12v reads from the rear axle sensor.
I highly doubt that case is from/in a 98.

Oh come on, you can fix that........

What the hell happened to it? Holy smokes.....

Shift pattern changed in 98. Previous years were just the opposite of yours. (2Hi all the way forward.)

It was a mid-year change for the 1998-1/2 model. The early 98's have the sensors on the trans or transfer case.

Looks like he could've used a transfer case saver.

Just a normal day of light abuse. Long story shory I heard a clunk going from 4HI to 2HI didnt think much of it... Shortly after i when over a small curb (going slow) and it she split. There has been a massive vibration in 4HI and slight vibration in 2HI. I wish i new why it broke so i cant avoid this in the future. Thanks for everybodys help.

If you haven't yet, pull the tail shaft housing to get a look at the infamous snap ring. If it's broken, it's the culprit -- they're known for splattering cases when they go. The transfer case saver is darn good insurance for fifty bucks and an hour of DIY installation.

The vibration you described would be consistent with a broken snap ring. There usually aren't any symptoms at all when the snap ring first goes, but over time the shaft gets progressively wobblier, and eventually the case just can't stand up to the assault any longer. The vibration hammers and cracks the case, and the long lever that is the rear drive line just pries the thing open, usually with the help of a sharp bump or an exuberant mash of the gas pedal.
