Broken transfer case need help..

Default Broken transfer case need help..

1998 ram 1500 318
5 speed manuel (nv3500)
T case (231d)

Last night i when over a small bump and my t case shattered into 10 pieces. I am trying to replace the t case but the one i found on craisglist has a speed sensornear the id tag and mine didnt... My question is will this affect anything when i got to install it? My case is a 231d and so is the replacement.

Prob out of a newer truck. Should be no problem but it would be if you needed one and didn't have it.

Actually, its out of an older truck, and the shift pattern is going to be different, so, keep that in mind after the install.

Last thing... This guy said his t case doesn't have a vacuum switch... Would that be a problem? And whats it used for?

It's used for engaging the front axle. So if you want your 4wd to work, then it's important - unless you permanently lock the front, swap the multi-piece shaft for a one piece, or get a 4x4posi-lok.

Then it should have one, or, at least, a hole to screw one into. It isn't just plugged, is it?
