Feel the heater hoses going into the firewall. Are they hot?

Just replaced the stuck, ironically named "Failsafe" thermostat that I purchased from Autozone for $12 with an $8 195 degree Stat. I only ran the engine for 5 minutes and began to feel heat. Only time will tell how long this one lasts.

Thanks for the suggestions!

The "failsafe" design is so it doesn't stay closed. It will allow you to drive the vehicle unlike if it was closed.

Trouble is, they tend to fail just because they feel like it. A standard thermostat is actually more reliable....

I am back to good heat after replacing the water pump. heater core needed flush too. I had experienced weak heat prior to w/p going bad and chalked that up to low water level in radiator and/or an air bubble.
