On the subject of limited slip, I would only go with a Detroit tru-trac. It's a gear-driven limited slip, no friction additives needed. And durable.

Ringandpinion.com is Randy's and there is a very good calculator on that site:

Lets you play with rearend ratios. He'll have a limited slip and a gearset for your 9.25.
In response to your post from Dec. regarding parts. Many people are handicapped by location, but where I am at, I have no problems finding rust free V8 trucks on the street or on Copart.com for 9-1400 USD. On Copart I would be looking at a decent runner that has been hit in the side or the rear, on the street I buy lower mileage trucks with blown transmissions. Sell what you dont need and crush the rest. Out here a fairly well stripped truck is still worth about 200 USD at the crusher. Most of what you need to get rolling would be close to free by the time you are done.
Well, regardless of where it comes from, input is input which is what I'm searching for and I've always intended to fact check and use logic, so I appreciate EVERYTHING that has been posted on these forums, whether you do or not, because it only serves to increase my knowledge :P

I'll add that site to a list of things to check on, but preliminary results reveal 0 trucks within 500 miles of my location.. I wish I could be as fortunate as you and have tons of well maintained trucks to pick from at lovely low prices, but where I live people don't buy trucks to garage them and treat them properly. EDIT: Further searches revealed about 10 trucks, sadly still the nearest one is roughly 150-200miles away, and further limiting it to only 5.9's (which is the engine I need) theres 3, and closest one is roughly 400miles

May want to just expand your search, and find the truck you really want, regardless of location. The just get a plane ticket, and go get it. My brother did that the last time he was car shopping. Ended up flying to virginia for the car he wanted.

Well I rather just search salvage yards (theres TONS where I live, HUGE city) for the parts I need than spend that kind of cash for a few parts :P

Come to Iowa they're easy to find! Everybody around here is part of the chevy crowd and only people with dodges tend to use em as shop trucks. Rusted to high hell but easy to find with low miles.

As far as low-mid tq, I agree 52mm tb, shorty headers with true dual 2" exhaust, 1.7s or cam. If you go cam you'll need programming to take advantage of it, I suggest sct tuning by FlyinRyan, not hemifever. Gears will do a lot as well. Don't waste your money on Superchips unless you can find it for $100 or less. Edge is better and SCT is the only one worth the price new

I actually had pretty good results from the superchips, but, I also had the factory " Death Flash" and I was able to correct my speedometer as well..

I had the same situation. A single canned tune from Ryan and, with my trans overheating, it ran better than the superchips did in perfect conditions.

1998 1500 4x4 130k miles. Locked up 5.2l Lot of new parts.
700.00 USD

1999 2500 4x4 V-10 Leather interior Owner's kid put a rod through a cylinder wall drag racing it. New computer, exhaust and tires.
700.00 USD

2001 1500 4x2 Sport decent 5.9l 125k miles. Reverse band in tranny broken. Having trouble getting title.
500.00 USD

Who said anything about lovely, pristine, garage kept, unabused trucks? I said decent iron, reasonable price. Sunshine has beaten these trucks a bit, the V-10 has the only good rims and tires. The point is, the price is right, hell, the front clip on the Sport is worth the purchase price alone. If i take what I want from any of these, the remaining parts are worth quite a lot more than what I have into them.

1.7s on a stock cam, if your doing a cam AND 1.7s you're going to need better valve springs.
