Default 1996 ram starting problem

I have a 96 ram 1500 318. When the truck is cold it doesn't want to start backfires quits skips barely runs. But if I plug in the block heater leave it for an hour or two it starts up and runs like it always did. Any help would be great thanks

Need to check and see what the various sensors are telling the PCM. Take a hard look at the engine temp value, and also TPS.

It's giving me an intermittent cam sensor signal which I replaced the distributor and still getting the code. . I also changed the iacv. Temp sensor . Unplugged my converter. Changed fuel pump
I dunno what else to check

Check the connectors at the PCM, make sure they are clean, and tight.

You replaced the distributor? Did you set the fuel sync? What is the exact code you are getting? Did you do a hard memory dump after you changed all the parts?

Hi everyone i'm new on here and I was wondering if someone can possibly help me and if anybody knows why my truck keeps dying. I Have a 1996 dodge Ram 1500 5.2 that well start up with no problem but theirs times were all it well do is crank. when it does not start I notice that the fuel pump don't prime (changed fuel pump a year ago) and it just cranks. It can go on for a couple days like that and then everything starts working again and the truck well start and run again with know problem. I have checked everything and i'm at a total loss. I am afraid to drive the truck do to this problem because the truck can go days without starting before it starts working again. If someone can help me that would be great. Thank you for your time.

You really should start a new thread. Some info on the truck would help, Mileage? Do you have any codes? Did you try swapping out the fuel pump relay? If you don't have a scanner you can get codes here...
