Default Door buzzer mod

I have a 96 club cab and the noise it makes with the door open with the key in or the noise it makes right after you start the truck is killing me. Can I swap a newer one in from say a 98? To get rid of the buz and get a ding?

I don't think so, on the 98 and up, I think it is part of the central timer module......

Looks like it:

Upgrading the buzzer to a chime Subject: Re: chimes or buzzers?
From: Joe <jcw@pobox.com>
A part number for the "chiming" module on older RAMs is 56007373. This can replace the buzzer on any 1994-96 module. I am not sure of the location of the buzzer module on the 97-98 trucks, but the pins are still configured the same. The chime module is about 3x longer than the buzzer module.
Unfortunately, the disable feature which has been described on this site is only available with the keyless entry system option on the new RAMS. The chime function on that system is part of the keyless entry module and wiring harness (very different from just the buzzer or chime).
pin configuration of the above 56007373 module:

That number comes from a 1995 model. Your dealer would know if that number has been superseded by a newer one. Joe
Subject: chimes to replace the '97 buzzer
From: bernard rate <bernard.j.rate@tek.com>
I got the chime module 56007373 to replace my buzzer.
On my '97 the buzzer module lives in the fuse block, but there is not enough room for the longer chime module. I made an extension cable and relocated the chime back to where it was on the '96 models.
Bernard.

As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure the buzzer module is located in the CTM. I have an extra CTM out of a 1998 1500 at my house somewhere. Let me look and see if I can find it and locate the buzzer and verify the part numbers posted above. If all is good, I can probably just mail it to you. I don't know how the rest of the country is on used parts for these trucks, buy my local pick and pull yard has over 30 gen 2 Rams and get more all the time, so I get parts pretty easily!

My local pick and pull has some rams, but most of them the whole dash is gone. If it would fit and work, I could make a good write up and video for it because I can't be the only person that gets annoyed with that "BBBBZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK" SOUND

Isn't there a buzzer fuse you can just pull out?
